Tradition has it that they achieved an overwhelming victory at Morgarten. Led by the Schwytzois landaman Werner Stauffacher, they ransacked Einsiedeln Abbey. Leopold de Habsbourg's punishment led to the battle of Morgarten, which ended in a victory for the Swiss, and marked a turning point in the history of the Confederates. But the doubt persists: where does the myth begin, where does reality stop?
